If you’ve ever found yourself scrolling past pottery videos, admiring handmade mugs, or thinking “that looks fun… but I have no idea where to start,” you’re not alone.
Trying pottery for the first time can feel a little intimidating—but it doesn’t have to be. My February classes and special events are designed specifically for beginners, curious creatives, and anyone who wants to get their hands dirty without pressure or prior experience.
Here’s exactly what you can expect when you sign up for one of my pottery experiences.
You Don’t Need Any Experience
This is the number one concern I hear—and the biggest relief for new students.
You do not need:
-
Prior pottery experience
-
Artistic skills
-
Fancy clothes or supplies
Every class starts with clear demonstrations and guided instruction. I’ll walk you through each step, answer questions as they come up, and help you troubleshoot along the way. Everyone learns at their own pace, and imperfect pieces are part of the process.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing
Depending on the class or event you choose, you’ll experience different parts of the pottery process.
🌀 February Pottery Classes (4-Week Course)
These Monday morning classes (10:00 AM–1:00 PM) run over four weeks and cover both wheel throwing and hand building.
You’ll learn how to:
-
Work on the pottery wheel
-
Hand build using pinch, coil, and slab techniques
-
Create functional and decorative pieces
-
Understand how clay becomes finished pottery
This course allows time to build skills gradually and gain confidence with clay.
Everything Is Included (Seriously)
One of the biggest surprises for new students is how much is included.
For both classes and events, your fee covers:
-
Clay or ceramic pieces
-
Glazes
-
Use of tools and equipment
-
Studio time
-
Kiln firings
-
Instruction and guidance
There are no surprise material fees. You just show up ready to create.
What Happens After Class?
Pottery doesn’t come home with you the same day—and that’s normal.
After you finish your piece:
-
It’s dried, glazed (if needed), and fired in the kiln
-
Pieces go through multiple firings
-
Finished work is food-safe and ready for everyday use
For Valentine’s Glaze Night, mugs will be ready for pickup before Valentine’s Day, making them perfect for gifting—or keeping for yourself.
Is Pottery Messy? Yes—and That’s Part of the Fun
Clay gets on your hands. Sometimes on your clothes. Sometimes where you didn’t expect it.
That’s okay.
Pottery is tactile, grounding, and a little unpredictable. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s learning, experimenting, and enjoying the process.
