Introducing Our January Adult Pottery Classes: 4-Week Intro to Clay

I’m excited to announce a new Adult Intro to Clay pottery session starting this January! This class is designed for beginners and those looking to reconnect with clay in a supportive, hands-on studio environment.

This is a 4-week, 12-hour introductory course that combines wheel throwing and hand-building each week, giving students the opportunity to explore multiple techniques and discover what aspects of pottery they enjoy most.


Class Schedule Options

Students may choose between one of the following weekly sessions:

  • Mondays: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Jan 5, 12, 19, 26)

  • Wednesdays: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Jan 7, 14, 21, 18)

Spaces are limited.


Studio Location

Classes will take place at my home studio located at:
Range Road 195, south of Highway 16

Detailed directions and parking information will be shared with registered students prior to the first class.


What’s Included

Your registration covers everything you need to focus on learning and creating:

  • All clay and materials

  • Full access to all studio tools and equipment

  • All kiln firings

  • Glazing materials

  • Guided instruction throughout the session

No prior pottery experience is required.


What You’ll Learn: Weekly Breakdown

Week 1
Students will be introduced to studio and kiln safety, become familiar with equipment, and learn where to find tools. Instruction will begin on both the pottery wheel and hand-building techniques, with time to start projects in each.

Week 2
Students will continue working on existing pieces and may begin new projects, building on techniques introduced in Week 1.

Week 3
Projects will be completed and prepared for their first (bisque) firing.

Week 4
Bisque-fired pieces will be ready for glazing. Students will glaze all completed work during this final class.

Finished pieces will be fired and ready for pickup the following week.
